倍数の部分にtwice(2倍)がきて、twice as large as that of Japanで「日本の人口よりも2倍多い」を表している。
3倍以上ならthree timesのようにtimesを使う。

このフィルターは、99パーセントものほこりを空気中から取り除くことができる。

as many as Aは「数」、as much as Aは「量」について多いことを強調し、as much as 99 percent of the dustで「99パーセントもの多くののほこり」を表している。
